”I didn't really know what to expect coming into Romania, but whatever expectations I had it has exceeded. The beautiful architecture is breathtaking and I love the atmosphere for Christmas with the stalls of local foods set up around the city centre! I'm grateful for the AIESEC team for taking us around, showing us new sites, giving up their time to hang with us. Lovin' it!”

(Lisa Han, Christmas around the world, AIESEC Timisoara)

"Sometimes we think that there is no need of exploring things out of our comfort zone or our supposedly comfortable life; we believe that places that are around us, in a short distance, are so familiar we are going to lose our precious time exploring them: this was something I believed up till I felt the craving need for change and for expressing my strengths and courage. I discovered an opportunity to travel to Romania and live there for two months, working as a volunteer, and I immediately grabbed it. When I arrived to Romania, there were two hard points I had to fight: snow and generosity. Snow was a cultural shock for me, the Greek, together with the beauty of Romania, its grandeur and nostalgia. Generosity, the thing that flooded from people’s souls, was the second surprise. My impressions? I loved the country, the Romanians, the cuisine, everything I tried, and why? Because I left myself open to accept anything they were willing to offer me. I met the most welcoming and warm people of my whole life, and honestly, I am ready to spend my whole life with them, if I can!"

(Anastasia Karouti, Greece, Grow - AIESEC Sibiu)

"Grow project in Romania. It was amazing. I develop myself and high school student. I learned how to make clear plan, time menagement, communucation etc. Thank you for give that kind of experience to people. Best regards, Heval"

(Heval, Turkey,AIESEC Brasov, GROW)

"Okay so where to start! First of all I want to say that, as I was on the plane crossing over the black sea heading towards Romania, I thought to myself, okay maybe this whole internship thing might just not work out. I wasn’t an AIESEC member so I didn’t know how everything was going to be. I’m going to the other end of the world and I’m bound to deal with complex situations and probably will have problems getting out of my comfort zone and making new friends, although I was super excited, at the same time I was awfully puzzled. The second I landed and looked out through the oval shaped window, there it was, my new home for the next two months. And now I can say PROUDLY that It was absurd to even think that way.

Coming to Romania has been one of the wisest decisions I’v made yet! I loved each and every minute of it!Now my thoughts and feelings starting from the start- Just as I got off the plane I was tired and exhausted, it was my first time travelling alone and it was about 11 30 ish am and the airport was deserted with the sky pitch black outside, that realization feeling start to sink in, I was finally in Romania but now what? Felt a bit lost, kind of like a movie.

Words fail me every time I try to describe what I feel when I think about my summer 2012 and how I think this was the happiest of times for me, it was the perfect remedy to all the rubbish I have delt with in the past and which had made me sad. I feel as if I have just woken up from the dead and that I can do almost anything I desire, I feel empowered. When I was applying for exchange I heard a lot from the AIESECers that this will be a life changing experience for me, and I always shunned them down in my mind. Thinking that they were just exaggerating and maybe referring to the fact that my summer will just be one big party and then I will come home and move on. But no, I was wrong, again!

This exchange has taught me SO MUCH that I cannot explain! I feel like I want to become a better person and to actually be someone in life, and part of it I do owe it all to you, because if it wasn’t for you. I wouldn’t have had a head FULL of beautiful memories right now. I wish AIESEC Pitesti all the best and to always promote themselves as the corky and animated group of people that they are and obviously also as one of the best LC’s of Romania as they prove to be all the time, I’m a lucky girl to have met you all and spent an amazing summer with you J and as I have promised, a goodbye isn’t painful unless you’re never going to say hello againJ. And the quote to help me remind myself every day; "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

“I've been here for about three weeks, and feel so impressed with everything. The people behavior, good transportation system, the winter's cold, and still have many other best moments that I can't tell you here one by one. It's kind of the best experience for me, so your Bucharest and Romania will always have a place in my heart and I will keep them as one of my best memories!”

(Irham Abidurra(Indonesia) – Use.Recycle.Breath, AIESEC Bucharest)

“I choose Romania, because the project was good, was exactly what I wanted and I’ve always wished to come to the Eastern Europe and to see the snow for the first time and to see how it’s to live in a cold place! The project was one of the things and I choose Bucharest, because is a capital. I want to have time to know all the beautiful places, to travel a lot and to have great stories from this country when I’ll got back in Brazil. And also to taste all the traditional foods.

(Bruno (Brazil) - ReBranders, AIESEC Bucharest)

"I have an amazing experience during exchange in Romania. I could understand their cultures even it's one of my culture shock but it also part of cultural understanding. "

(Ramadina, Indonesia, AIESEC Tg. Mures, GROW)

"My project was awesome! The people, project, AIESECer there, Romania, all of them were so perfect. The national television in Romania made some news about us for twice time in a month! :) I'm so glad that I involved in this project.. When I came for the first time to Timisoara Romania, I just expect nothing. So I enjoyed every steps of mine. The first thing was culture for me, because I'm an Asian, especially Indonesia. I have spesific culture and not as free as another country such as American for the example. But for almost 2 months I have to learn many cultures from my friends that came from Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Australia, China, Peru even living in the same room! So we have improve our awareness about their culture, local culture, try to understand and open minded, etc. I never had experience like this before.. So that's why in the end of this project, all of us were cried. Goodbyes are always hard. And we will make some reunion 10 years later! Thank you AIESEC :-)"

(Evani, Indonesia, AIESEC Timisoara, "Let's Go")

"I am really thankful for the care and support given by the LC in Suceava, Romania where they try their best to provide us with everything we need despite their busy schedule. Also, the people here are very supportive and interested in sharing their culture or knowing about our culture. "

(Kejkin, Malaysia, AIESEC Suceava, GROW)

"I guess the communication during acceptance procedure is essential to chose a programe. Because, we are going to unknown country, with unkown people, and we must have an support to do right choice."

(Nadjane, Brazil, AIESEC Craiova, International Kindergarten)

"My exchange participation through the AIESEC project explore, was for me a lifetime experience. I managed to broaden my horizons and develop my leadership and teamworking skills. Furthermore, I had the chance to live and work in an international and intercultural environment."

(Konstantina, Greece, Rebranders - AIESEC Galati)

"It was really an awesome experience..i worked with young people and i felt that i am usefull for someone! I met a lot of people from completely different cultures and i became friend of them! I improved my personality and my teaching skills through the programme!"

(Maria, Greece, Christmas around the World, AIESEC TImisoara)
